Not Even Thai Dramas Are Safe from the Cancelled GL Series Curse
Western sapphic fans know the heartbreak of sudden cancellations. But lately, it’s hitting Thai GL series too. Some disappeared quietly. Others were officially shelved.
Most had potential. Some even had blessing ceremonies. But updates stopped—and fans were left in limbo.
Let’s revisit these cancelled GL series and ask: What went wrong?
1. Be Mine – A Dream That Never Opened Its Doors
Announced back in 2022, Be Mine was one of the first Thai GL series to create buzz. It promised interconnected love stories centered around a cozy café. The show had all the tropes fans love: a grieving woman opening a café to honor her lost love, roommates with unresolved tension, a deal between a businesswoman and a struggling student, and an intern falling for her older boss.
Unfortunately, despite its rich premise, the project never took off. In 2024, all lead actresses announced they had ended their contracts with IS Entertainment. No official cancellation was ever declared, but with zero updates for years, the silence speaks volumes about this entry on the list of Cancelled GL Series.
2. Let’s Kick This Love – Officially Cancelled
Unlike Be Mine, Let’s Kick This Love didn’t leave any doubt. Be On Cloud officially announced the cancellation in March 2025. What was meant to be a fresh GL debut for the studio ended before it even began, marking another painful entry among Cancelled GL Series in Thailand.
3. About Galaxy – A Fashion-Fueled Mystery Fades
About Galaxy had promise as a high-fashion thriller adapted from Zezeho’s novel. It explored emotional depth through themes like PTSD, scars both literal and figurative, and unresolved tension between its leads, Hongyok and Khunying Note. A blessing ceremony took place in early 2025, but since then, updates stopped abruptly.
Some actresses reportedly ended their contracts. Fans are left waiting, but hopes are fading fast as the series joins the growing list of Cancelled GL Series without closure.
4. Girllove Girlfriend – Deleted Without a Trace
Announced in 2024, Girllove Girlfriend appeared to be moving forward with filming supposedly underway by July. Then silence fell. One of the leads auditioned for another show, and even the official Instagram account vanished.
While no official cancellation has been confirmed, the lack of updates and cast movement strongly suggest this project is yet another of the many Cancelled GL Series that quietly slipped away.
5. Sunshine in the Wind – The Fragrance of Silence
In Sunshine in the Wind, Phraphye could smell emotions through flowers, leading to a romance with movie star Vadthiwa. The story’s unique premise held promise for something fresh.
However, it’s been over a year with no production updates. Studio Wabi Sabi terminated the contracts of the main actresses, and all signs point toward cancellation. This series’ fate adds to the unfortunate pattern of Cancelled GL Series in the Thai drama scene.
6. The Last Case – Mystery Both On and Off Screen
This GL thriller from Identity Entertainment followed a doctor accused of murder and her defending lawyer. Initially, the studio said they were seeking sponsors, but months have passed with no news.
Some actresses auditioned elsewhere, and director Apple Lapisara Intarasut has shifted to working on 4 Elements: The Earth (2025). It appears the case might be closed permanently, joining the growing roster of Cancelled GL Series fans hoped wouldn’t fade away.
7. Step Up – No Movement, Just Static
As the second installment of SKIU the Series, Step Up focused on Uro, a T-pop idol, and Fahsai, sister of Maysa (from Love in the Rain). Unfortunately, one of the leads left, and updates stopped entirely.
The silence is louder than a stadium full of fans waiting for answers, making Step Up another entry in the unfortunate trend of Cancelled GL Series.
8. The Perfect Song – Cut Off Mid-Note
The third installment in the SKIU universe, The Perfect Song told the story of grieving pop star Iris who couldn’t write love songs—until she met Mirin.
But after one actress left, the studio fell quiet. No posts, no updates, no closure. Just static. It’s another Cancelled GL Series that leaves its audience in suspense.
9. The Passenger – Star-Studded but Grounded
A fantasy GL movie starring Freen and Becky sounded like a dream come true. However, director A Natthaphong confirmed its cancellation in October 2024.
The spark went out before it even lit the screen, marking another disappointment among the Cancelled GL Series from Thailand.
10. Draft Your Love – Scrapped Without a Rewrite
Both lead actresses signed with a different company, and there has been no word on recasting. To make matters worse, Rizzup Studio deleted most of their posts about the series.
Though no official statement was made, the signs point to full abandonment. This adds Draft Your Love to the long list of Cancelled GL Series with no clear future.
Still, Thanks Thailand
Yes, it stings to lose stories before they’re told. But unlike some parts of the world, Thailand keeps trying. New GL series are announced almost every month, showing resilience and commitment to representation.
So while cancellations hurt, they’re not the end. Let’s stay curious, hopeful, and loud—because every story deserves a chance to shine.
